Privacy and analytics

Useful measurement without turning visitors into products.

ForgeVM uses first-party systems to understand what material is useful, maintain email subscriptions, and measure clearly labelled sponsor placements.

Information collected

Basic counting uses a one-way anonymous identifier derived from connection and browser information. Raw IP addresses are not stored. When detailed analytics are accepted, ForgeVM may store visited pages, active time, scroll depth, referral domain, campaign parameters, screen size, language, broad device type, browser family, operating-system family, and approximate country, region, or city when the hosting network provides those location headers.

Why it is collected

The information helps identify useful books and articles, improve navigation, understand device compatibility, prevent repeated counting, measure sponsor placements, and maintain the technical performance of the website.

Email subscriptions

An email address is required to subscribe. A name is optional. At least one subject preference is required. The address is activated only after the owner clicks a verification link. Every campaign contains an unsubscribe link.

Advertising

Sponsor placements are clearly labelled. ForgeVM records deduplicated impressions and clicks to measure placement performance. Ads do not alter editorial content or influence technical conclusions.

Retention and security

Detailed sessions and page views are retained for a limited period configured by the site administrator, currently intended to be 90 days. Aggregate content counters may be retained longer. Administrator passwords are stored as one-way hashes, database access uses prepared statements, and the administration panel is not indexed by search engines.

Your choices

You may use essential-only mode, accept detailed analytics, change that choice later, unsubscribe from email updates, or contact info@ForgeVM.org about your information.
